Major H.J.B. Rice CO of the 2nd Forward Observation Unit Royal Artillery. This unit, 1/3 British Royal Artillery and the remainder Royal Canadian Artillery, served under the British 6th Airborne Division. Major Rice was directed to raise the unit in July 1944 and was appointed it's CO. He served as CO until 1 March 1946 when he was placed in command of a Battery of the 53rd (Worcestershire) Air landing Light Regiment. He retired a Lieutenant Colonel on 7 March 1963.
